The Curtis P-40 was the first fighter flown in action against the Japanese forces in Burma before the official US entry into WW2. "Tex" was one of the very first to volunteer to fly and fight with the American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers). While serving with the group, Tex was nationalized back into the USAAF. He went on to serve two tours in China emerging with 18 ¼ aerial victories to become one of America's leading aces.
